De Bergkant Lodge is a beautiful Cape Dutch homestead in the enchanting town of Prince Albert, home to the majestic and world-renowned Swartberg Pass and the destination of choice for hundreds of travel and adventure explorers looking for a relaxing and luxurious stay in the wide open spaces of the Karoo.
Situated at the top of main Church Street as you enter the village, De Bergkant Lodge is a combination of heritage buildings and 4-star modern amenities. Comprising four spacious accommodation suites and five double rooms, our guests also enjoy two large sparkling salt water swimming pools, sauna, steam bath and lush green terraces with manicured lawns.
An ancient fig tree at our entrance bears witness to the many delighted local and international guests we have had the pleasure of hosting over the years, many who return again and again to become old friends.
Our rates include bed and breakfast enjoyed by the pool side while red-breasted Cardinal birds join you at the bird feeder amidst their sweet morning chatter.
Village life Prince Albert
For dinner, the village center is within easy walking distance of De Bergkant Lodge and offers many top-class restaurants and eateries as well as local attractions such as The Showroom Theatre with a lively menu of theatre entertainment and film attractions.
Book a night tour with our local Prince Albert Ghost Whisperer who guides visitors on moonlight ghost walks and will regale you with stories of ancient tales and fables. Another night tour through Astro Tours reveals the secrets and mysteries of the glimmering night skies where the Milky Way cuts a swathe against a midnight-black backdrop and is perfect for avid astrologers and amateur stargazers alike.
Framing the horizon, the ancient Swartberg Mountains, part of the Cape fold mountain range, rise like a massive wave, feeding crystal clear water into the village, down rocky mountain slopes to finally fill furrows which meander through the Prince Albert streets of architectural and historical wonder.
